Verizon to Bring LTE to More Markets in Ohio and Pennsylvania
Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless already announced plans to make its LTE network available in more markets around the United States, though the company hasn’t detailed all of them until now.
However, some more info on the areas in which the carrier’s 4G airwaves are set to arrive before the end of this year has just emerged.
In November, the wireless carrier is expected to bring the LTE network to Roanoke and nearby communities in Virginia, and should expand the network further more in mid-December, it seems.
This month, the advanced network speeds will be available for users in Smith Mountain Lake, Christiansburg, Radford City, Buena Vista City, Lexington City and Rockbridge, the carrier announced.
“We’re proud to expand our 4G LTE footprint to southwest Virginia to help residents, small businesses and local governments connect faster and more fully with each other and with others across the country,” Verizon notes.
“Our 4G LTE network is revolutionizing the way people communicate, and we know this connectivity will be a key technology enabler for many years to come.”
Starting with December 15th, users in various areas in Ohio and Pennsylvania will benefit from enhanced speeds on the carrier’s network.
In Ohio, for example, the airwaves will be expanded to Youngstown, Warren, Campbell, Struthers, Poland, Boardman, Canfield, Austintown, McDonald, Niles, Findlay, Tiffin, Fostoria, Arcadia East, and Carey.
As for Pennsylvania, Verizon plans on bringing its network to Indiana, White Township, Homer City, and Blairsville on December 15th.
Following the November 17th launch, Verizon’s 4G LTE network will be available in 178 markets nationwide, and will provide fast data connectivity to a number of more than 186 million Americans.
“Verizon Wireless was the first to deploy a nationwide 4G LTE network when it launched in December 2010 in 38 cities with coverage available to 110 million Americans,” the carrier notes.
“At that time, the company announced an aggressive goal of bringing its 4G LTE network to more than 185 million Americans by the end of 2011. Less than one year later, the company has surpassed its goal.”
