Verizon says 4G returning to normal, mum on 3G issues

Claims data but not voice and texting impacted

Last night, many Verizon customers trying to use the carrier’s service for sending or transmitting data, either through 3G or 4G connections, were unable to see the network. The 4G service is now back up and running. Verizon has not acknowledged any problem with its 3G service.

“Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service is returning to normal this morning after company engineers worked to resolve an issue with the 4G network,” a company spokesman advised. “Throughout this time, 4G LTE customers were able to make voice calls and send and receive text messages. The 3G data network operated normally.”

The most recent outage followed one solely on its 4G network just two weeks ago. At the time, Verizon 4G customers in several areas experience outages to the high-speed service that lasted several days, affecting even Verizon’s phone launches. [via The Verge]
