Older devices will not pick up 4G, but they will continue to work as well as they used to before.

Q. What is the 4G application in rural areas?

A. There are a lot of rural areas that don’t have the opportunity for cable modems or DSL lines. They’re not hardwired for those types of services, so to be able to have these kinds of speeds in those markets is huge.

It can be, in my personal opinion, much more lucrative than maybe the metro areas.

You go into the middle of Missouri or Iowa where you have a lot of farmland and you’ve got people with money there, they like and want technology and they can use it for business or personal uses.

Q. How long have you been in the business?

A. I’ve been in wireless retail for 17 years.

Q. How much has this industry evolved in those 17 years?

A. When I first got into it, I don’t think anyone was even text messaging.

That shows that in less than two decades the phone went from being more of a luxury item … to being an integral part of your lifestyle today and a convenience to simplify your life and your business.

That’s a huge jump in a relatively short amount of time.

Being able to have a phone that can almost replace a computer, a GPS device, a music player and a gaming device in one application, that’s what you’re talking about, a convergence of technology.

These data speeds are just going to make things easier for future applications that can further streamline you life and your business.

Q. How fast is the technology and information churn in the industry — weekly, daily, monthly?

A. It’s exponential on a daily basis.

The lifelines of some of the products that are coming out are getting shorter and shorter. There’s always something that’s faster, has more memory, a better camera, better hardware and better software.

In today’s market the growth is exponential to what it was five or 10 years ago … especially with the competition that is out there.
