Verizon provides $100K grant to help flood victims

Verizon has provided $100,000 to the Hurricane Irene Recovery Fund to help victims of the summer storm.

The fund was established by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. It has made initial grants of $130,897 to communities in Saratoga and Schoharie counties, as well as Dutchess, Delaware, Orange and Ulster counties. Additional applications are expected from Greene County and the Adirondack region.

The money has been used to help families purchase clothing, bedding, furnaces and household items.
