Verizon Plans New Media Gateway Smaller Set Tops
There’s NO reason why they can’t shrink the set-top and integrate all this into the NEXT generation of Actiontec Routers!
Though, going ALL wireles is a mistake.. many consumers are not willing to make that leap just yet for security reasons among the many reasons. I would welcome this change so that they would ELIMINATE the set-top rental fee from the bill once for all. Just charge for additional set-top interfaces beyond the 1st one (when combined in a dual-triple play).
My actiontec router a little bit under half the size of a motrola set-top box. It also goes without saying that it should be half or less the power consumption of a set-top too.
