Verizon exec Stratton replaces CEO McAdam for CES

Verizon Communications said today that veteran executive John Stratton will take over for CEO Lowell McAdam at a key panel at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Stratton will take part in the
CES Innovation Power Panel on Wednesday, which also includes Ford Motor CEO Alan Mulally and Xerox CEO Ursula Burns. McAdam was originally slated to participate but had to beg off in what is believed to be a personal matter.

Stratton’s presence is part of an increasing role at CES for Verizon, which last year used the show as a platform to announce its 4G LTE lineup. The company has a booth at the show and will display some of its 4G LTE products and applications for the coming year. A year ago, McAdam and former CEO Ivan Seidenberg made keynote speeches at the show.

Stratton was previously chief operating officer for Verizon Wireless before recently moving to the role as head of the newly created Enterprise Solutions unit, formed in December to better serve government, business, and wholesale operations utilizing both wireless and wireline assets.
