An arrest has been made in a 2-and-a-half month old attempted rape in Newark.

42-year-old Marvin Holmes, who police say is homeless, was arrested in Wilmington.

He’s charged with attacking a woman who was new to the area, after offering to show her the way back to her home from a Newark convenience store.

The woman got suspicious at one point and tried to take off, but police say Holmes tackled and assaulted her.

Holmes is charged with attempted rape and strangulation and is being held on $110-thousand bail.
