Business Coach: Tips on Handling Your Staff Effectively

There’s so much stress in the workplace. But you can’t let that get in the way of things otherwise you won’t be able to work properly. Stress is inevitable but the manager can avoid this by keeping in control so that a warm and friendly atmosphere is seen and experienced at work. In that way, everybody in the office would also be able to keep calm to get on with work as normal.

According to a business and life coach, managers are as important as everybody else in a company. Staff members who trust their managers will be more productive, than those who don’t. When a manager knows his subject area very well, employees will listen and trust what they have to say. A manager should be able to set a good example through behavior and proper work decorum for his staff.

The key in good performance is for the manager to set expectations of his staff, and for them to be vocal with their expectations of themselves. An improvement to a person’s self-worth is certain if the supervisor knows how to give encouraging expectations. Always give fair treatment to employees. The employees’ contribution should be recognized and valued by the manager. Creating an outstanding workplace with respect and work flexibility will go a long way in gaining loyalty and happy employees.

But do not forget that an excellent manager also gives constructive feedback to any undesirable issues such as bad performance. As negative as the issue may seem, raise it out in a good way and point out what the employee can do to straighten things out and how to make things better. In this way, the employee can also assess himself on what he has done and on how to improve his performance.

It’s also a good idea to hold monthly meetings where you can either recognize or give feedback to employees as encouragement to them. Knowing that their hard work is not being ignored would motivate them to improve on their skills and make them want to do better at work.

According to a seasoned business Coach, one of the most powerful tools of motivation is dedication at work. A superior who is committed at work will soon gain followers who would want to do the same thing. Be a good example to everyone at work and you’ll manage your employees more effectively.
